T-Ball Is For The Turtles

Haleigh has started T-ball this year and she had her first game as a turtle (their team name) this morning. The kids all got their bigger-than-life uniforms and hats on before the game, warmed up with some throwing, did a team cheer, and then they were ready to play. Basically the rules are that every person on the team bats while the other team "fields" the balls, the kids run around the bases, and then the other team does the same thing. Each team does this twice and the game is over. No points, no outs, no strikes, just a lot of fun with 3 and 4 year olds. It was so fun to watch the kids get excited, and then sidetracked, and then bored all in the space of a half hour's time. Haleigh made good use of her outfield time by dancing, conversing with other players, and sitting down. When running the bases Haleigh had to hold on to her helmet by the holes I guess to make sure it didn't fall off, and when she would stop at the bases she would introduce herself to the baseman and start up a conversation, because really what is baseball without a good one-on-one with someone from the other team. I'm excited to see how the kids do next week and I have a blast watching the game with all the other parents.
Grandma and Grandpa Bryner were able to come watch Haleigh play in her first T-ball game. After the game we all went to Chili's for lunch. Haleigh had a grilled cheese sandwich (any good baseball player knows that's the lunch of champions) which she shared with Trevor. Trevor was very thankful. It was a fun eventful day and I'm looking forward to more T-ball adventures this spring.

Fun! You say that was today? How come we got all the rain and you had sunshine. All my pictures from today are gray and gloomy...

How fun. Last year when Cameron played t-ball they were the turtles too! We told him that they were the teenage mutant ninja turtles- that was much better.
