Day Full of Bugs

On Tuesday Haleigh had quite the "buggy" day. She first went to bug camp which was held at Thanksgiving Point for about three hours. It was a day camp where the kids played bug games, ate snacks, and learned all about different types of bugs. Haleigh was able to go with her good friend, Emily and she hasn't stopped talking about it. Haleigh also brought home a beetle larvae that she so ingeniously named "Beetle". She has carried Beetle around with her everywhere. She reads Beetle stories, takes him/her for rides in her doll stroller, tucks Beetle into his/her little crib at night, and I'm sure she is actually doing other things such as singing Beetle songs when I'm not observing. She wants to keep Beetle forever. This girl just simply loves bugs. Today I found an ant in the house and she swears that Beetle invited him to Trevor's birthday party, but I guess she was a little too late saving Mr. Ant because Mommy squished it with a tissue before she could protest. Part of me hates the fact that my little girl loves bugs, snakes, lizards, and spiders (oh, and don't forget scorpions), but part of me is so fascinated that my little girl is fascinated by these itty bitty creatures. I think the only bug that Haleigh has really shown any objection to are flies. She has even quizzed Matt and I by asking us, "why did Heavenly Father make flies?", to which we have no logical reply. Matt of course told her it was because they eat poop.....is that really a necessity? I told her that I had no idea why Heavenly Father made flies, but that I'm sure there must be a good reason for them; I just haven't figured that good reason out. Right now I can see Haleigh's future job as being either a Botanist (she loves plants and collecting leaves and grass), a Petrologist (she's even more obsessed with collecting rocks but isn't too particular to what they look like as long as it's a rock), a Paleontologist (she loves dinosaurs, rocks, and dirt....couldn't be a better fit), or an Entomologist (of course.....the bug factor). Naturally she would be a ballet dancer, hair dresser, or princess on the side.
Later that same day Haleigh went with Matt and I to the Bee's game. (one of Utah's minor league baseball teams). The last time we had gone to a Bee's game I had been pregnant so the seats were a lot more comfortable and we only had to visit the restrooms twice. I think Haleigh had a great time at the game. A few highlights of the game were:
#1-just being missed by a foul ball......really folks, it was a close one. I should have brought my glove because I could have reached out a caught it easily. I wish I would have brought my glove because it would have saved the poor guy that got hit with the ball.
#2-Haleigh getting to meet Bumble the Bee. It took a little coercing but I finally got her to pose for a photo with the Bee. I find this quite funny because she had no problem with Mickey and the other characters at Disneyland. Of course the winning deal maker was popcorn.....Haleigh will do just about anything for popcorn.
#3-the pitcher giving up only two hits the entire game. It wasn't too exciting for Haleigh, but it was impressive for Matt and I to watch.
#4-last but not least was the food. Baseball games are always a good excuse to eat bad food (as in bad for you food). We had a little popcorn, hot dogs, and cotton candy and loved every minute of it.
I don't have any photos of Bug Camp because it was a drop off type of camp, but I wish I could have seen Haleigh experiencing all the fun bug activities.
Enjoy the Bee's game photos, though.
