It has been raining here a lot and I'm not just saying that. Ask any Utahan at this very moment and they'll say, "yes, it's rained too much in the past two weeks". Normally we are in our dry and hot weather by now, but it's actually been a nice change to have some cool days and nights. I don't think I've turned the air or heat on in over a month! That's a nice break on every one's pocketbooks I'm sure. The only down side to having this much rain is that the kids don't get to go outside and a lot of planned outdoor events get cancelled or postponed. Luckily the few things our family had planned for outside in the past couple weeks have worked on the days they were scheduled.
Just this past Friday I took Matt to Lagoon (for non-local readers this is Utah's one and only amusement park) for an early Father's Day present. Friday was the only day this past week that you could actually see the sun and so I knew we had miraculously picked the right day. My mom was nice enough to come down to watch the kids while Matt and I enjoyed some alone time screaming and panicking as we were tossed and turned on various rides. I have to say that I had quite a good time and we were even more excited that we found some perfect little souvenirs for both the kids. We found a nice bug bracelet for Haleigh (a bracelet with an actual bug inside) and I won a Cookie Monster and Big Bird for Trevor playing one of the "midway" dart games.
Haleigh had her second to last t-ball game on Saturday in between rain storms and it's fun to see the development and progress she's achieved. She definitely hits the ball better and is spending less time picking grass and filling her hat with it. She's getting very excited to start soccer in the fall.
Last week one of my neighbors and friends, Lyndsey Fagerland was nice enough to come over and take some photos of the kids. We took some indoors and then headed over to the park to take some outdoor shots. I was so happy that the weather stayed nice and calm for us while we were out.
Last, but not least, we are yet again tempting fate on Tuesday by taking Haleigh to a Salt Lake Bee's game (minor league baseball). Kids eat free on Tuesday and we're wondering how we are going to convince the attendant that our daughter can eat three hot dogs and three sodas with candy on the side. (just kidding.....Jeff Snider reminded me that it will be a lot easier to prove that then to get out of hell for lying so I guess we'll pay for our food. ha ha). Let's just hope that the weather is pleasant enough to enjoy a nice baseball game with our 4-year old daughter.
